INTRODUCING COVRGARD GLOS: THE SAME PROTECTION, BUILT FOR HOW YOU WORK

At CovrGard, surface protection has never been about choosing between quality and practicality. CovrGard GLOS is built on that same principle.

It’s a new addition to our range, sitting alongside GLOS+ as a high-quality option for professionals who need a film that can be applied faster while still delivering the clarity customers expect. It’s not a replacement for GLOS+, nor is it a budget shortcut, but a different tool designed specifically for different working conditions.

WHY ADD A NEW GLOS AT ALL?

As the popularity of CovrGard PPF grows, we know our installers are handling higher volumes, working across more vehicle types, and operating in environments where application speed directly affects margins. GLOS+ remains the benchmark for single-unit, premium work, but not every project needs that specification. Until now, choosing something more cost-efficient meant going outside the CovrGard family entirely.

After listening to feedback from our network, we’re certain that GLOS fills that space. It’s built to the same quality control and material standards as the rest of our range, at a price point and conformability level that helps installer margins without compromising on finish.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN GLOS AND GLOS+?

It all comes down to the specification. GLOS uses the same pure aliphatic urethane substrate, coated with a pressure-sensitive repositionable acrylic adhesive and finished with a newly developed clear coat. Self-healing properties, hydrophobic performance, and chemical resistance are all retained. Visually, GLOS and GLOS+ look virtually identical – both produce a clear, high-gloss finish that enhances the paint underneath. The practical difference is during installation. GLOS has an elongation rating of 350%, against 300% for GLOS+. That extra stretch is what makes the film well suited to your busiest periods: it conforms more naturally around complex contours, reduces correction time, and wastes less material across a high-volume day. Thickness sits at 189 microns against GLOS+’s 190, which isn’t a meaningful difference in feel or fitment profile. Anti-chipping performance is matched across both, and adhesion holds at 800 gf/in. on both products.

LOOKING AT THE DATA

Both films achieve a gloss rating above 96 degrees – GLOS+ at 97.0, GLOS at 96.0. In real-world viewing conditions, that gap is invisible. Contact angle (which measures how well the surface repels water and contaminants) is 100 degrees on GLOS, compared to 95 for GLOS+. Anti-yellowing performance under ISO 4892-3 and KS A 0066 testing also improves fractionally, with GLOS scoring ΔE < 0.6 against ΔE < 0.7 for GLOS+. If you have customers keeping vehicles for several years, that colour stability is worth highlighting. GLOS+ retains the higher rating for anti-permeation and stain resistance under our internal test method. Where long-term resistance to marker contamination or oil exposure is a specific requirement, GLOS+ has the edge. For standard protective film applications, GLOS meets the performance threshold without any issues. Both films are warranted against UV degradation, bubbling, and cracking, with chemical and mechanical resistance across up to 10 years.

MAKING YOUR CHOICE

It all depends on what your workload is – a detailing specialist fitting a single prestige vehicle has different requirements to a body shop managing fleet protection across multiple bays. GLOS+ is for the first scenario, and we’ve developed GLOS for the second – and for any situation where volume, speed, and cost efficiency matter without the customer ever seeing a difference in the finished result.
